When I was told that I am invited to stay at hotel in Yeruham – Irus hamidbar Hotel in the Negev (south of Israel), for the review of the hotel that is especially suitable for families, I have to admit that I was wondering if I really should go because Yeruham, Negev, South. There's not much to do there, or that's what I thought..
However, my children have been complaining for a long time that I travel without them for weekends and hotels (in fact, they are right), and in case we fell on a weekend of Purim which is also a holiday so we spontaneously decided to pack a bag and go on a spontaneous vacation.
Yeruham is a small town that is an hour and a little drive from the center of Israel, so from a distance point of view it is not really terrible.
The hotel is located in Yeruham, which is in the Negev, about half an hour from Beer Sheva, and close to a number of attractions for the whole family such as the Yeruham Lake, the Iris reserve, the large crater area with colorful sands that can entertain the children beautifully (only bring glass bottles from home) The Carasso Science Park and the Children's Park in Be'er Sheva.
The hotel has a bicycle rental stand for independent rides, and of course it is recommended to use the car to reach more distant destinations, including agricultural farms (wine farms and cheese farms).
At the reception desk they will be happy to arrange for guests to visit the various attractions, to share maps and to recommend hiking routes in the area that can combine ancient cities, camel trips, jeep trips, spa treats, Bedouin hospitality and more.
Holiday with kids at Irus Hamidbar Hotel in Yeruham
The hotel is very child friendly and has a children's club with closed circuit TV so that the parents can watch the children, there is an indoor heated pool in the winter.
We arrived on a day when temperatures were about 20 degrees outside and the children played in the pool and were happy with some water during the winter.
You will not find an entertainment team but there are spaces for children to run around the hotel rooms which is quite well kept.
In front of the hotel complex there is a large playground with a variety of facilities for children's enjoyment, but we did not need a picnic, pool and hotel complexes.
Irus Hamidbar Hotel Rooms and Suites:
The hotel is built as a suite on the ground. Each suite has a small balcony, some facing the main path and some to the back garden.
The hotel has 47 rooms which are mainly spacious and luxurious suites in a modern, clean and cozy design, coffee corner, refrigerator and large bathrooms, as befits a pearl in the middle of the desert.
The rooms are suitable for families with children and we were 5 people in a suite with children and we were quite spacious and comfortable with opening beds.
Irus Hamidbar Hotel – Food
The hotel offers a large dining room in a fresh and young design with a home-cooked kitchen and tasty food.
I come from an Iraqi house and have a select choice, but we all enjoyed the food very much.
There is a large selection of salads and in terms of the meat dishes, a decent selection that allows each of us to eat things he loves and enjoy the meal and a variety of delicious desserts.
In the breakfast buffet you will find a wide selection of cheeses, salads and pastries, as well as a toasts stand that the kids really liked and each one made himself toast as he liked.
The hotel lobby has sofas and a computer corner as well as a bar and restaurant, the staff invites, services and pleasant, the atmosphere in the hotel pleasant and quiet, and we will undoubtedly return to a larger family composition.
The first social hotel in Israel
The Desert Iris Hotel is the only social hotel in Israel, because more than 50% of the hotel's profits will be returned to the community for the education and welfare of the Yeruham children.
In addition, all the employees at the hotel are residents of Yeruham and the surrounding area, and most of the suppliers with whom the hotel works are local, so that the hotel's activities make a significant contribution to the city's economic activity.
Daniel Amichai, CEO of the Desert Iris Hotel: "Guests first come to us as guests, separate from us as friends, and return as a family again."
The hotel is suitable for religious and traditional people.
A short walk from the hotel is a number of synagogues that appeal to all communities.
In addition, the hotel offers all necessary conditions for holding business meetings, seminars or seminars. For this purpose, the hotel includes conference and conference rooms, suitable for business guests, corporate events and academic conferences.
